    Copper core Zimmerman?

This cross looks to have a copper-clad core, although it is magnetic... Is this unusual for a Zimmerman?

It's not a Zimmermann but a Deumer, and copper-plated steel cores were common in the early years for this maker.

Oh, the pin threw me off, thanks. My L/11 has a copper clad core but a different pin...

Pins are not a reliable indicator of maker; although they're "easy," they often lead to mistakes. Better to look at the shape of the frame and the design of the core, and use the entire pin system (pin, hinge, catch) as an ancillary confirmation. Deumer uses a distinctive frame shape that only two other makers really used: 23 and 26.
