    Kvk2

Can anyone name a maker for this KVK2?

It's not zinc and in pretty good shape.

Thank you in advance for any help.

What are these worth these days?

      Evening,

for the maker, I don't know. Here is a list of manufactures who made the KVK2 during the war. (the manufacturers I know)

Steinhauer & Lück from Lüdenscheid 4
      L. Chr. Lauer LL. from Nürnberg 14
Karl Wurster KG from Markneukirchen 18
      E. Fred Weidmann from Frankfürt am Main 19
      Willy Annetsberger from München 34
      Julius Bauer& Söhne from Zella-Mehlis, 43
      Jakob Bengel from Idar-Oberstein 44
      Frans Jungwirth from Vienna 45
      Robert Hauschild from Pforzheim 56
      Karl Hensler from Pforzheim 57
Rudolf Tham from Gablonz ad N. 101
      Hermann Aurich from Dresden. 113

If there misses something, fill me in please.

When it's not Zinc, it should be made of "Tombac". In that case there should be a thicker part on the ring, where (very tiny) a number is engraved. The number engraved represents a maker, seen in the list above.

Hope I helped you with this!

      Kind regards, Luuk

Last part of the lists :
Far more made the 2nd class with swords of this very common award .
One interesting side note to these is that :
Just about all 2nd class are PKZ issue with only a hand full of LDO makers . 2nd class with no swords - not a single LDO licence .
2/3rds or more of the 1st class licences are for LDO sales ?

At one time Trevor I made an attempt to identify unmarked pieces . After a few hours I realized the severe monumental task and time consuming undertaking that it would be and gave up on it .
A good picture base of marked samples a must . Some makers used different dies which did not help any .
The major difference is the 1939 date and combined with a few other features like sword hilt , jump ring . The pebbling in the arms is the only feature that seams to stay some what the same .
Just too many variations - and some do not differ at all ?
I am not saying it cannot be done - but one needs a group of people working on this at the same time .
Just the date 1939 shows the most variations . I would guess a lay-out template may have been used and handed out to start with and the individual maker added/finished the center later ?
A small sample of some of the different 1939 dates - poor picture - added to yours .

                    Great work Douglas.
I have started doing the same with kvks but its very hard work indeed.
I can put names to a few now.
