    Group of bad DKiGs

    Hello,
More from the estate of a deceased collector whose items I'm evaluating. Just posting these to record repros for future reference and to warn other collectors.
    Thank you,
    Dale

you've got the classic fake Latvian produced Godet marked 21 on the pin

you've also got a fake Deschler marked 1 on the pin and a fake Juncerk stamped 2 on the pin.

All are bad for sure, as stated. Those crooks in Latvia sure were busy.

Do you have documentation as to where he got items and price paid ? Even better yet do you have any of the sales hype for each item ? Seems to be a good opportunity to expose some bottom feeding dealers . AND depending on timing and descriptions of items his estate MAY be able to return some garbage to the peddlers . The crooks that did this to him should be called on this !!
ADDING Looks to be 2 bad Godets to me . This poor guy probably got defrauded out of lots of $'s here . Yes this is plain old fraud and big enough numbers that authorities may get on board with the estate on some items . Probably much interstate and inter country dealings here and that opens up additional routes of attack .

I've been thinking the same sort of thing - his estate should be pursuing the bad dealer(s) legally. With the amount of money involved, it has to be worth it, even after lawyers fees. Got to be better than a bucket load of $10-50 fakes (if you are lucky).

                      Regards

Evaluate the item, not the story and not the seller's reputation!

If you PM/contact me without the courtesy of using your first name, please don't be offended if I politely ignore you!

Will be an uphill battle. Sale receipts will be great to expose those dealers if they are still around. Only consolation is that your dear friend never knew they were fakes and probably proud of his collection till the end, maybe that satisfaction is all the matters beyond dollars and cents.

No idea who the victim was - just fed up with crooks not being held accountable . First order would be to establish fraud . Simple fact is he was ROBBED and the crooks should at least be identified . JMHO of course and I earned my spurs on this subject with Lugers in the 70's . Plenty slimy sellers then and now . Just look on some of the big websites and see the reblues and worse trumpeted as " fresh from the vets estate " Luger land has always had a bumper crop of crooks and now I see medal land has the same disease .

The executors have found no paperwork, though they know he bought some things such as the supposed Doenitz uboat set from a dealer in New Jersey who only used a mail order catalog. Many of the items also came from an auction house in Tallahassee that has a no return policy, while he also bought from dealers at shows in Marietta and Jacksonville. He often bought from one dealer who then apparently told others at theses shows that he was looking for certain things, because other dealers would then approach him and sell him more. There are no family members other than a minor child who will inherit whatever money comes from the estate. Although he did poorly in TR collecting, he did well in other areas and the child should be fine.

Without paperwork and witnesses, the executors feel it is best to just let it lie. The collector did pass away without knowing that he wasted his money, so that is at least one consolation.

I would try and get law enforcement involved . Obviously large amounts and interstate-inter-country transactions may get them interested . If NOBODY ever challenges these crooks why would they stop ? Obviously no conscience involved so what is the deterrent ?
