    Post war KC with oaks

Enclosed are pictures of a KC with oaks. From what I understand, the cross is a fake produced after 1945. Here is what I think and some questions:

S&L cross with very late B-frame (dent row flaw, 9 o'clock flaw, heavy beading flaws) and non-magnetic core. Unmarked frame (probably non silver). I am unsure about the oak leaves, to me they do not look like S&L. No markings on the oak leaves. The ribbon is 45 mm wide and has 23 white threads. I assume that the ribbon is post war.

Am I right? Any comments are much appreciated.

Hi Dwight, you might like to post this in the 57er forum as they'll be able to confirm things quickly for you and this is an interesting example.

Looks like a late S&L core with a K&Q frame.

                Agree

Agree nice late B-frame probably made around late 1950s
Personal I would never use the Word fake of a early piece like this.
I would use Words like postwar replacement. Many vets lost there Awards doing the war and some of them would like a medal that looked like there wartime awarded piece.

I also like the oaks, seem really nice. A great piece that is very much of collector value today. Also many collectors can not afford a wartime KC, and feel a replacement piece like this come close to ownen a original. Also 1957 collectors
would like a piece like this very much.

A friend sold one with oaks a few years ago. They are very well made, but I would never pay a high price for one. Tom

                          Oaks

Again thanks for all comments. Here is a close up of the oaks. The oaks and the cross is IMHO more or less mint. Is it possible that the oaks are made by Deumer?

The oaks are not S&L that is for sure.

Those Oaks are Deumer...no doubt about it..........
