    Controverisal EK1 MM26?

    Hi Everyone

I just bought this EK1 MM26 on the E-stand and after reviewing the old thread from last year started by the seller http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...ad.php?t=57703
I just wanted to hear wether the jury is still out on this one or if its considered original.

One other point of worry to me is that the paint on the core looks more like gun blued i.e. its very smoth and reflex light.

Any comments will be highly appriciated!

    Cheers Thomas

Some think that pin type is more rare than the normal dropp shape pin. And i have to agree.

The jury might still be out, but I'm one juror who feels that these variations are good.

        Hi Thomas,

One with this pin/hinge/catch set up just sold on the Collectors Guild. I trust Peter, and I agree with George that these are good.

Here's mine with the "normal" set up. If I didn't already have this one, I would have bought Peter's. Nice crosses.

Anyway, here's mine, got to show it when I can.

I am only comfortable with the type shown in post #4 of this thread. Great looking cross!

                        Hi Everyone

Thanks for all the comments, it appears that this one is still controversial. Are there any opinions on the paint/gun blue on this one (see picture) I have personally held hundreds of EK's and never seen anything like this!

                        Cheers Thomas

I think we need some more folks to post worn 26's to see if any others have this type metal under the original paint.

Thomas, is this the metal UNDER the original paint? It looks as if it was painted at one time. I have not seen this type finish before.

I personally am happy with both variations. I had a '26' marked EK1 1914 with this 'variation' set-up and I passed it around several dealers of very high standing and all of them too had no problems with it.

I really don't know why it is an issue... just look at Meybauer, they had 2 set-ups and I don't see anyone declaring one set-up a fake.

If you decide that it's a fake, I'll take it off your hands for $15. Can't say fairer than that!

Richard, I think both types are also good. What do you make of the finish?? I does sort of look "blued".
