    Here's something I've never seen before -- Rettenmaier 1914 EK2

After you collect for a long time, it's rare to see something new. Sascha at woeschler-orden.de sent me these photos for an opinion.

I believe this 1914 EK2 is a Rettenmaier L59, made 1939-1941(ish). It clearly uses the same core that Rettenmaier used for their WWII-made 1914 EK1s, and I believe the frame is also a Rettenmaier.

Boerger L/57 also used this core in their WWII-made EK1s and EK2s, but the shiny paint and Rettenmaier frame leads me to believe it's not a Boerger. Of course, Boerger remains a possibility.

Anyone ever see another EK2 like this?

      Here's the Boerger.

Same core (we know Rettenmaier and Boerger used the same core for WWII-made 1914 EK1s).

                Hi Trevor,

Imperial Rettenmaier WW2 is beautifull - frame is typical and for me does not raise any hesitant

... but I have divergent feelings about the second imperial cross WW2 signed L / 57 ... frame is not typical for Boerger's crosses EK2-WW2, if I'm wrong ?

                Regards

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

I agree Jarek, but the L/57 mark does appear good and Boerger did definitely use this core for their 1914 EK made during WWII. So perhaps they used this frame also?

Though congratulations are not in order; the cross is simply something I've seen, and not mine. I guess it will be in Sascha's update.

Here's the Rettenmaier WWII-made 1914 EK1 for comparison. These can also be found (I think) in Dietrich and George's book.

...so I guess it's not a total shock that they made EK2s as well, but I've never seen one before this one

                              Here's another one for comparison.
This is the one shown in Dietrich's EK book.
