The Knight's Cross 1939 by Steinhauer & Lück of Panzer Commander

Interesting story, but can't seem to find Mr. Kurzreiter on the list of RK awardees ... missing something?

Knight’s Cross of the Iron Cross, by maker Steinhauer & Lück, Type A, so called “micro 800” - in silver, magnetic center, 48.26mm(width) x 54.2mm(height), weighs without ribbon, 30.9 grams, reverse with small (thus micro) 800 stamp; typical S & L “A type” with tiny flaws between 12 and 9 o’clock arm; in slightly worn condition, nice old patina, with short original ribbon. This KC was purchased by eMedals staff directly from the son of the recipient (according to son, Gefr. Rudi Kurzreiter) along with four field post envelopes (sent to his family in Graz, Austria); two postcards, WWI period (addressed to his father Rudolf); a book Mein Kampf; photo of his father and comrades, circa 1930; pass named to his father, Rudolf; and a single photo of Rudi in Wehrmacht uniform. (C:6)

Footnote: This cross and group were purchased at the eMedals office in 2012 directly from the son of Commander Kurzreiter who had travelled from British Columbia. According to Mr.Kurzreiter, his father was awarded the Knight's Cross for fighting on the eastern front. As an interesting note, Commander Kurzreiter was stationed at Dieppe during the illfated Canadian raid of August 1942 where a total of 3,623 of the 6,086 men (almost 60%) who made it ashore were either killed, wounded, or captured. As told, Kurzreiter observed the battle from high ground and admired the determination and fighting ability of the Canadians attempting to land on the shore. At the conclusion of the war, and as a direct result of these observations, Kurzreiter moved to Canada where he opened a Summer Camp in British Columbia. He became an active member of the community. During this time, his son would often wear his Knight's Cross out for Halloween.

Buy the cross, not the story! It´s quite simple. No Kurzreiter got the KC.
