    Tom,

did you ask him when he did pick this one up? And from where? Was it sold then. Maybe we can find the current owner!

Even if you found the current owner, SEM'd it, and reviewed the results, it will still have its own unique fingerprint... Are you looking for a better photo?

A unique fingerprint, yes. But wouldn't part of that fingerprint be a determination that it was a wartime produced RK or not?

          Brian,

a better photo would be very nice. Especially showing the "Juncker" features that are evidently not Juncker.

Again, my main point is to give the community a tool at hand to identify the new maker and determine it's features. We are talking here about a Euro 4,000.- piece so any means to identify are greatly appreciated.

Wouldn't you hate to stumble over this cross and dismiss it as a fake when you could buy/sell it for Euro 4,000.-???

Yes -- especially if it could be determined that it was a genuine wartime RK!

              That could mean either:
              • He does not have it, or
              • he has it but it is not for sale

No- He sold it a few years ago and does not have the cross, just the image.

Exactly what I was thinking Dietrich, this one has a crude 'double-take' at a 800 stamp on the reverse frame.........

Why doesn't someone ask Helmut what he knows about that RK?

This is what H. Weitze knows for sure.

P.S.: After a more closer examination I don't think both are not the same. However, why is Detlev not calling out a manufacturer on his COA?

Dietrich, we KNOW there were more manufacturers of RK's to the private sale outlets than the ones we have ID'd as known maker crosses. For all we know the round corner was one of those "you go away" manufacturers whose stock got absorbed into the mix. The knowledge that there were unknowns does not make this one any more real to me until I am convinced of its provenance but the door is wide open to more cross makers. But closing fast as vets die and provenance becomes more "family of deceased vet said so..."

The more important it would be to know more about these early unknown crosses.

Taking a middle road.....sometime things fall through the cracks!!!

I sign sometimes many reports in a day and every once in a while I don't 'read' them as closely as I should.....some have come back to bite me because of a 'typo' or 'mis-statement' and this may be an example of just that; a ton of "expertise/photos" placed in front of a guy and the hand acted before the brain along with ( as I suggested earlier ) an error in the placement of the picture but once in print...
