    Hi guys,

this is a good S&L DKiG, if I´m not mistaken? Yes I know these are a bit controversial.

I did see them, but still I´m pretty sure it is a good S&L.

I guess it comes down to what you define as good.

Daniel, without the '4' on the pin, and the solid rivets on yours that don't match others, it doesn't look good.

Look, we can discuss this over and over again. I am not saying the piece is a wartime made DKiG. I know these are controversial.

The question is, is this an S&L made German Cross in Gold, in my opinion: yes.

Why would solid rivets mean not good? S&L is known to have used solid rivets on their Luftwaffe Paratrooper badges that are considered wartime. Conversely, hollow rivets were consistently used by S&L on most if not all their 1957er badges, so personally I would think solid rivets are a better sign of wartime production by S&L and hollow rivets more in line with their postwar production.

To answer Daniel's question, I personally feel this is an S&L-made cross judging by the reverse hardware setup, rivets and finish.

Whether it is wartime made or purely postwar I don't think anyone can say for sure since no one knows what a definite, unquestionable wartime-made S&L DK looks like.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

Tom, for the wide pin S&L DKIG's I haven't seen any others before with solid rivets, whether it be with swaz or in 57 form. Looking at the rivets, particularly the right one, I wonder if this one has been reworked?

Daniel, yes, the rest of the piece matches S&L.

                  Hi guys,

Dietrich also told me the rivets are most likely reworked/redone. I looked a little closer and you can clearly see scratches around each rivet. Maybe they have been replaced to solid ones.

                  Regards,

                  Daniel

is this a 1957 piece that has been nazified?

                      Hopefully with a non-controversial swaz...
