Yes the case was a bit battered when I bought it years ago.

Would a medal ever be given in a mismatched case?

For instance I got this case with an L/50 EK 1.

No Award EK1 would have given in a mis-matched case - nor would have a LDO cross been sold with a mis-matched case .
When we do not know ... some time later the EK1 and case came together .

My first EK1 is same problem.

meine EK1 is early S&L unmarked but LDO case on maker marking L/55.
( what the ...? )

my case is LDO.. looks like used for Wound Badge L/55.

I think that this problem, maybe owner kein habe cased awarded.
then later, He has purchased another case and put in EK1...
