    EK1 - L/59 Alois Rettenmaier, Schwäbisch Gmünd...

    Hello,

this is one of my new 1.st class Iron Cross...

Nice L/59 Alois Rettenmaier, magnetic core.
    LDO-box with both papers.

Only thing i can`t find is the typical stamping error for a Rettenmaier cross.

    Regards,
    Koeti

Yours has an extra mark that many miss and think it is just a ding . I have the same - wedge like - mark on the pin .
Is your pin anchor crimped or solid ?

A nice late war case that is not the original case to this cross .

After confirming the anchor type and that it is the very first short lived mid way open end crimped anchor - which was recalled . The 3rd one I have ever seen . This anchor happens to be turned around .
These hollow anchors were replaced first with a bottom meeting open end crimp that held better when soldered to the back plate as the 2 ends get fused and no longer can open .
So with out a doubt that is a very early made L59 EK1 . There for it would have come with a push button case ... if the person buying it also bought a case at the same time , - which we do not know ?
Rettenmaier buying an array of different pin sets this might be their own creation or some thing they got from BH Mayer .
It is such a close match that I would guess Mayer may have supplied the pin set... they are so close .
As one can see in the comparison - this Rettenmaier anchor is a smaller deligate anchor and doomed to fail !
