Yep for sure fake, just take a look at the edges of the ribbon posted and compare it with an original one.

A few fake KC ribbons on the market ... some are more convincing than others .

Thanks, but when I take my ribbon, it is like the correct ribbon on the picture, very fine woven...smells old, uv negative, soft, no plastic...

Some fakes have gotten very good . 21 count for the white on yours .
              Trust what was said .

                Douglas-
A question: Doesn't a 21 thread count for the white band fall within the acceptable range? Also, regarding the composite macro image you posted, the looped edge of the ribbon is shown to advantage and is apparent. Nicely done. However, is there something I'm missing, but should be seeing, in your comparison between the two white sections?

Thanks for posting the graphic. I find such visuals more compelling and instructive than simply expressing an opinion.

Hi Chris : To your question of the white thread count . 21 is not in the range of acceptable thread count - nor is 18 correct - as mine is which is a post war piece .
According to the Knight Cross book by Dietrich Maerz most genuine KC ribbons have a white thread count of 25 or 30 thread stitches ... some original ribbons have been found also with 23 and 24 count .
The width of the color bands being about 6 mm each for white and black and the red with about 21 mm .
Note that the correct thread count alone does not garantee the ribbon is a war time original ... material and weave type (sides) have to be taken into account also .
Now the width of the white and black being both about 6 mm ....this tells us some thing else ... that the thread thickness for 23,24and 25 count would require a medium fine threads .
30 threads of course would have to be very fine threads to fit with in the 6 mm .
Looking at the ribbon at a distance some of the finer details cannot be distinguished - ... the white bands may be the same width but the actual thread count is more important .
In the end an in hand examination may be necessary and or the only way to be certain . With EK2 ribbons things are for more complicated .
Hope this helps with your question .

                    Examples : showing a few points ...
In the first picture fake KC ..... the count 23 is correct - but the white/black with is off , quit a shiny appearance and it glows badly .
The KC 2nd picture is original with equal width and bead count .
Note the difference in color tones .
