    RK Zimmermann / Godet

    Hello

I found an interesting page about RK:

    http://www.germandaggers.com/Gallery/KC.php

    This sentence draws my attention:

"It is assumed that Zimmermann held the dies because when the original Godet dies were sold and used to produce copies starting in the 1960's, the Knight's Cross was not included".

Copies concern EK1 and RK or only RK ?

    Please also read this:

" The deduction is possible for the simple reason that had Godet been the manufacturer of this type of cross, and Zimmermann their client, these crosses would be quite common because they would have been remade in some numbers in the 1960s and 1970s, like Godet's Oakleaves and Oakleaves and Swords, amongst other decorations from the firm's prewar and wartime catalogues. The Godet trademark and some of the firm's old tooling was acquired by one Anneliese Paetzold, who married Dr. Phil. Kurt-Gerhard Klietmann, founder of the Institute for the Scientific Research and Study of Orders and Awards."

As I understand, with my limited knowledge...Only Steinhauer & Luck, type A, Micro 800, non flawed, pickled frosting would be the safe buy I´m a very lucky guy, since my “cheap” cross fulfil all above
      Regards,

I'm happy for you that you have a nice one () but this statement is very wrong on many, many levels.

P.S. Almost certainly, Zimmermann made the component parts of the "Godet" cross. It may not have assembled the cross. There is also some reason to believe that Zimmermann made the Oakleaves and Oakleaves & Swords for Godet, although this is not 100% proven. There is NO proof that Dr. & Mrs. Kleitmann had the dies for the higher orders and made perfect new pieces after the war.

As Gentry points out correctly, it is pretty much proven that Zimmermann supplied Godet with RK parts or even complete assembeld crosses, just as they did with Deumer for a short time (if one believes the Museum Lüdenscheid). Zimmermann also delivered Klein with DK parts. I do not know about Zimmermann (possibly) deliveriing the Oaks and Swords to Godet, but that is really not relevant. What is relevant is that all genuine Oaks and Swords are from the same dies and that there is no evidence that anybody after the war had the dies and has produced on such an die.

To the happy owner of a micro 800 I'd like to say that as a proud owner of such a cross yous shoudl study the topic a little deeper. You will be astonished what you can find out!

A lot of the crosses at the German Dagger website are fakes and the topic of A, B, and C dies from S&L is completely misunderstood. Not a very good source for informations, just like so many on the Internet.
