What is very strange is that the frame corners have been filed on the reverse frame and left untouched around the swaz. The complete opposite is usually the case, the reverse being left untouched as there is no swaz to fit around. Has this been seen on other examples or has this cross been opened and the core turned around after the repaint?

no doubt - frame was open, core repainted and mistake assembled&

in my opinion, the core is not removable. That is why it is so strange to me

Yes Tony ... I have seen every combination of filed and not filed assembled frames . It apearse the corners were pre-filed and then put together with un-filed frames . At first they may have been matching them and at some point they stopped filing and matching .

back side to the beginning
the front and on the backside
unusual i like it
