    Boxed EKII Opinions

Want to get opinions on this boxed EKII. Does it look original, and is this box indeed for an EKII? It doesn't look like the EKII fits very well into the recess. I'm worried this is a box for some other award.

    Thanks.

BTW, the cross is a 13.

Are they supposed to fit in that snug at the ends of the arms? It almost looks forced.

        Jim,

The cross looks somewhat awkward in the case, the recession almost looks like it was made more for a pilots badge rather than an EK.

        My 2 rookie cents.

Is the box brown outside? I had the same box a while ago and it turned out that it was a repro. The Cross do not match into the box, right? Same as mine.

Since that time I do not like these boxes. Only my opinion.

          Best wishes

The cross is both nice and original. I have one of those 13 marked crosses in mint condition. Very nice crosses

The case and cross does not belong to each other in my opinion.

            Cheers.

Steer clear Jim, that case is not in any of the usual reference books on the EK,

              Best,

I remember Joergs box a very convincing box, boxes though like the brown one were used for the KVK and EK 2. Page 58 of Gordon Williamsons The Iron Cross of 1939 has a genuine example best to fit the description of the above box.

I've a couple of examples but no fake box to compare it with, strange/thankfully how all this effort into producing such a box and the award dosen't fit properly.

Boxes a field of it's own, give me a packet any day of the week.

I think Marcus is right, try a KVV 11 Klasse, see if it's a better fit.

I took the bottom out of the case and the glue glowed under blacklight.

                        Hi Joerg,

Yes your's was a very convincing fake do you still have any pic's of it ? A dangerous fake in fact, as luck would have it these boxes are rare so to speak and with the few genuine examples we can build up profiles of the types encountered, good and bad. I find these boxes particularly hard to assess.

                        Allan,

I'd have thought the KVK 2 and EK 2 would both have fitted into this type of octagonal recess, rather than it being type specific (i.e either for an EK or KVK 2)

The same box I refer to in Gordons book is like that of mine for a KVK 2, my EK's also fit into this box too.

                        Kr

                        Marcus
