War Merit Cross 1 class without Swords

    Gentlemen!

I have very curious sample of War Merit Cross 1 class without Swords (zinc).
As far as I can see at first it was produced with swords.
Then swords were taken off. I was told is was usual way to produce
War Merit Cross 1 class without Swords at the very end of the WW2.
Can you help me to find out it is original?
And is the story about producing a tale or not?

    Thank you in advance,
    Alex.

The manufacturer mark on the pin looks as L/...
    The number is unreadable.

Are you sure the mark isn't "4"?

Looks like a good S&L piece to me, the story about removing the swords is utter rubbish, the KvK1 with and without swords have different dies for production. I don't see how being "late war" would change this.

              Alex,

I thought the cross looked like an S&L, so I asked if it could possibly have the S&L "4" mark on the pin, and not "L/something". It seems that it does!
