What cross was normal wear under a Spange?

    EK I & Wiederholungsspange 1939 2.jpg

What cross was normal wear under a Spange I:
    - EK I 1914 from WWI?
    - EK I 1914 from WWII?

I noticed that the WWI crosses who are made in WWII are greater!

    Greeting,

The 1939 Spange is always and only ever worn above the 1914 EKI ... it shows the award of a 1939 EKI and replaces that second award.

The 1914 crosses arms are thinner if that's what you mean by 'greater' ?

I think you misunderstand or read mine question!

I now how they wear them, see my own picture, with a WWI K&O cross, also made in WWI!!!

        But what in WWII?
In that time they where awarderd with a Wiederholungsspange zum Eisrene Kreuz I. Did they buy a new EK I 1914. They where still make at that time and I believe they made them as big as a 1939 EK I?

They would wear their original 1914 cross unless they had bought a replacement from 1939 onwards. Richer recipients may have bought several for different uniforms of course.

There were no hard and fast rules for which type (1914/1939) was worn.
Generally the 1914 would be worn if available. However more than one
would be required as at WW2 for the wearer may have had multiple uniforms to adorn.

In fact the 1914 Iron Cross was also made during WWI as big as a 1939 Iron Cross, so the question of size is irrelevant. A 1914 Iron Cross can measure from c. 42mm to over 44mm, and same with a 1939 Iron Cross.
                Best regards,
