    Ek1 800

I have had this for awhile and I believe it is similar to the one in Gordon Williamsons' book.

    Thoughts?

Sedlaztek Berlin, does the screw have a nut on the other side like this?

This one is quite OK and is after today's level of knowledge a piece of Sedlatzek.
Open is whether the pieces have been built together by Sedlatzek or by BH Mayer, 'cause the pieces of the cross, except the fastening,
are exactly the same as we can find on a genuine BH Mayer cross.

BTW this cross is just silver coated while it has the 800 silver stamp.

This is true as I had it tested by a jeweler and at first he said silver and I asked him to do it again and a little deeper and he said not silver. Jim

Current thinking is that Sedlatzek did not produce any of his own crosses, but purchased or assembled them from other manufacturers. His crosses are all well known to be stamped '800' but not silver all the way through.

It is not a surprise he lost the right to sell EKs early in the war.

Thanks for all of the comments. I appreciate learning about the manufacturer and the fact that the piece is silver plated/coated as opposed to being 800 silver.

Jim, there is no "nut" on the other side of the disc.

                  Thanks again.
