    EK 1 Halbetui repair?

Here's a very nice Halbetui for an EK 1.

Open it up and there's an "L/11" marked EK matched to the "Wilhelm Deumer" maker-marked case.

The only problem with the set is that the paper hinge holding the lid to the bottom of the case is ripped (See pic.). If the case is open, the lid is only really held in place by the white silk "inner hinge." My questions are: Should I try to repair the outer hinge to provide more support for an open lid? And if so, how? (Right now I'm just keeping the case closed all of the time. But it would be nice to be able to display it open. )

Any and all opinions and suggestions are welcome!

How would you go about repairing the paper? Any ideas? There is a metal hinge isn't there?

Keep it as it is. I dont see any point messing whit it, and if you try value will dropp. If you want to show it open at a fixt place support it. And that fabrick is not that weak and will hold that case lid as long you live, whit normal use!

"Halbetui" has no metall on it and most are for LDO items. The hinge off those are made off leather or paper.

That's a very nice case just as it is George...and scarce!

Check me - but wont displaying it open have the same net result on wear and tear to the lining hinge as displaying it closed.....

                absolutely NIL....

Please, don't repair it.... just stop fiddling with it !!! ...

                Nice!!....
