    Hinged LDO case for EKII

I have here a chunky little case for a EKII, either a 1914 issue or a Shinkel pattern '39, because the space/imprint for the cross is smaller than the standard '39 version. It has a grey velveteen inset for the cross and a white lining to the lid. Nothing glows. As far as I am aware, but correct me if wrong, Ldo marked cases were late '30's era, so is it more likely to be for a '39 EKII? (if it is legit!)

Very nice Harry, as you say EK11 or maybe a KVK.

Actually, the LDO was started in 1941. But since there are LDO-marked versions of the 1914 EK 1, why couldn't this case be for a '40s version of the 1914 EK 2?

What I was wondering George, but then isn't the 1940's version of the 1914 EK11 the same size as a '39er? only the '39er version will not fit the recess in the base. Also the imprint of the beading of a cross is smaller. All comments welcomed.

I can't speak about all WW2-era 1914 EK 2s, but I do have an LDO-marked ("L/52") 1914 EK 1 which is in the shape of a standard, WW1-era EK 1 and not in the larger "Third Reich" style. So I would assume that some Second Class remakes could have been done in the same fashion.

I see the 'ticks' you mean Jim, on pics it might suggest swords of the KVK, but the ribbing impring of an EK is deffinitely there...
