EK 2. Original or Copy? Opinions please.

I have owned this EK 2 for about five years. I bought it from Wietze so it has a lifetime original guarantee, but I have learned of other badges in my collection purchased in Germany, which have turned out to be reproductions. How does this one look?
It has a maker's mark in the ring that seems to be a single digit in an irregular or star shaped depression. The single digit is faint but has one smooth round side like a 6, 9, 2 or maybe 5. Any ideas on maker?
