    V.early '57 RK by K&Q

Well this one was up for scrutiny before - see : http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...ad.php?t=73234

but it arrived today! Ribbon loop marked 65-800, and cross marked 800 under doughnut-eye on reverse. Identical to wartime K&Q frames! Appears to be a copper core. Very small acorns. The DKiG shows similar acorn pattern, as do the miniatures.

That is a nice cross to me. I think it is a very early one

              Cheers.

                  Dave,
I agree! my camera is not up to much. But here, a pic of the reverse date for you, and a composite shot of '57er overlying '39er!

                  Best,

I have no idea of the ID of our RKt, the seller scribbled something on the back, but the name does not match any known listed RK winners, a pic of reverse of photo will follow later, right now I am loving this cross!

I don't see any bites here and as I love a good go around and discussion.....I'll ask the question!

There has been allegation regarding K&Q crosses being wonderfully produced POST war, wherein cased, packaged examples suddenly hit the collector market relying on a story of 'found' in trash cans and a supply train.....

I'll QUALIFY my question by saying I have NEVER owned a K&Q but I do admire the core while dislike the frame...

However, where there's smoke there's flame.....so how does this '57 frame fit....?

Come on lads don't hold back!!
                          Regards,
                          Dave

I guess one could say that S&L had purchased available frames- theirs and any other firms, for manufacture of the '57 crosses. But that does not fit with the different core, does it?

Gordon's book says that K&Q continued as a firm up to 1985, making decorative metalware. Soooooo............... when did all these K&Q crosses start popping up? 1986-1987? I wonder what was sold when the firm went belly up in 1985? Do you see why I only like juncker crosses, or pure grain alcohol and rain water, Mandrake?

Interesting that the loop is marked 65 800, as if being an awarded piece,

                              perhaps:

--leftover frames and loop put into a 57 form piece
--loop was used the the RKT original piece?
--pieces in both 1939 and 1957 form were churned out post war for whoever wanted to buy one.
