    1939 KVK1 Karl Gschiermeister

    Hi guys,

Just back from a small military show today. I found this nice KVK1, marked to Karl Gschiermeister of Vienna. I never had one by this maker before, so I was happy to add this to the collection. Hope you all like it.

    Best regards,
    Tom

                      Hi Ian,

Your example is about minty as mint can be. Looks terrific. The case too. Thanks for posting.

                      Best regards,

Hi Tom, the case is on the left in this photo ..

Apparently it was found in the wall cavity of an SS officer's room in the Channel Islands.

                        Cheers, Ian.

                            Hi guys,

Here is another '50' KVK1 that I won in an auction. This one has the maker marking stamped upright while the first example I posted has the marking sideways. I really like the dark patina on the backside of this one.

                            Best regards,
                            Tom

Looks great Tom! Way to bring a great thread back to life. Great Merit Cross... A first class War Merit Cross is unappreciated IMO. They are much more rare than with swords.

                              thank you,
                              Scott
