well 55's are quite common. Could have been awarded "maybe" 1942 until the end of the war. Nice original. Tom

The one you have is the 2nd type and the common one - marked and not marked .
The 1st cross they made was the odd low bead frame type - some what lacking quality .
Found mostly with a painted core -rare variant with an acid blackened core shown below .
