Shinckleform rare ?

Hi all,

I can buy a shinckleform EK2 from a good dealer for just € 45,-.
This cross must be worth MORE then this i believe(?).
I searched this forum (and the internet to) for posts on shinckleformed EK2's but could not find any!

Are these things rare or something???....and how did the schinkelform came in production?

Dear Ron,

try a search with Schinkel and not Shinckle and you will find a lot on this forum.

...and any dealer that sells a Schinkel for 45.- Euro is either a fool or a crook.

How Much?

Hi Ron,
I would expect to pay at LEAST $200 USD for a Schinkelform EK II - 45 Euros? Whats that, a little over $45 USD?
I would definately hesitate here! Maybe you found one that the owner doesn't exactly know what he has - Just beware, that's all I'm trying to say! That sounds a little too good to be true!

Oops i spelled schinkelform wrong ....hehehhe
I've bought things through this dealer before and then he even gave me free stuff (war photographs). I've got pictures of the cross but cant post (yet).

Maybe someone can post them for me ???

I paid £80 for a EK 2 Shinkelform(about 120 Euro's ?)
and £100 for a EK 1 shinkelform (about 160 Euro's?)
so if your's is a good 'un then you have a bargain!

And all i need now is a original Ritterkreuz for € 100 !!!

Keep in mind that these pics are not the best you have seen, but the seller doesnt have a great scanner/camera.
I've bought stuff from this dealer before and he doesnt sell crap as far as i know.

I've bought the cross (for € 52,-) and its on its way to me know, the seller claims that he bought it from a U-boat vet in Germany along with an EK1 and the award documents for both crosses...signed by Grand Admiral Karl Donitz himself. He sold the award documents and the EK1 together to a collector who didn't want the EK2.

I've bought stuff from this collector before and it was always genuine and not fake. And i really trust this guy.

Could his story be real ???? he told me this after i bought the cross and not before.

My apologies for I didn’t add a comment when I posted your pictures, was in a bit of a hurry. To me your Iron Cross looks fine, both the cross and ribbon appear to match with other pieces I have had the experience of handling. Definitely appears to have been worn and shows age. Although the pictures are not the best I would give this one the thumbs up. When you receive your EK will you be able to give us some measurements and weights? This will help confirm our thoughts.

It is perfectly possible for the story to be true Most award docs for U-Boat personnel in the early part of the war had a facsimilie Dönitz signature, this is quite normal.

I have a Schinkelform EK1 with screwback which a bought from a dealer in naval items and which was reputed to have come from a U-Boat officer. Unfortunately these stories, even if we trust the seller and believe them to be true, are impossible to prove and therefore dont really add to the value of the item.
As you got yours really very cheap though, you've done well in any case.
