Frame 1 is for early ones and frame 4 for the late ones, that's right ?

Not that easy to determine what is early and what is later . So far there seams to be 4 frames and which is 1st at times is only a guess .
Taking in consideration the manufacturing and finish of the cross and core - silver plated frosted frame and lacquer coated as 1 is - maybe frame 2 ? - would indicate an earlier production .
Also more than one die could have been used at the same time .
What helps also is the PKZ marked crosses which rules out a 39/40 made cross . With a high volume by 41 K&Q most likely could have been on their 2nd die .
Credited award documents would help in the time line also .
So frame 1 and 2 - I would put as earlier and 3 and 4 as possible later frames .

See your exemples with frame die 1 and 2, both have the 1st core and my cross too. This is a good indication that frame die 1 and 2 are early. And I nearly sure we won't find a 3-4-5 core on a 1st frame die.
