A very nice set and the case is correct for this maker.

Indeen a nice K&Q. I am curious however as what consitutes a "correct case for this maker". Were it the correct case would it not be one marked K&Q? I've also heard that the blue cases were correct for K&Q crosses. The one shown appears to be the common sort that can be found with any makers cross in it. Please, I'am not trying to rock the boat but just looking for insight into the matter.

                            Hi Chet,

There are multiple types of cases that are correct for the K&Q, but they're all of broadly the same type and this specific one is really the most common. This type of case shows up so consistently, over so many years and in so many groups from families, with K&Qs, that the only conclusion is that K&Q supplied their EKs in this type of case. The blue case is broadly of the same type. Same with the green case.

I've never seen a case marked for K&Q.

I believe there are only a handful of makers we know the case types for. For example, F. Zimmermann 6. EK1s should come in a specific case with a black insert, and Mayers came in a specific type too. That's not to say others can't be original to a specific 6 or 26 or 65, but there are some types we know about due to consistent observation over many years.
                            Best regards,
                            Streptile

Fully agree with Trevor and I can only add that that there are also specific cases for '24' (Koch) EKi's and '107'
