    Single-Sided KvKII

    Hi all

I found something unusual on a dealer site today. A 'single-sided' KvKII mounted on a medal bar.

I have never seen one like it before. It is so unusual I don't know whether to dismiss it as a reproduction or not.

Anyone ever come across something like this before?

Perhaps a KvK I finished as a KvK II (late war zinc) or something like that. What an interesting find.

RonR might be an unfinished KvK 1 .
The one Matt has - has a loop for the ribbon ring . Could be a converted - half finished KvK 1 ? Where was quality control ... when this ( or half of it ) was awarded ??
Not a rare award to have a shortage of - I would think . At least they would have used a regular- full award - when doing up the medal bar ??? Looks like a display piece they had for the window .

Ron, what makes you figure your example is an unfinished cross? Looks like a poor cast fake to me.

My guess: the kvk on the ribbon bar is made in Spain.
Have had 2 of these overt he years, the are single sided.

                      Thanks for the feedback everyone.

Ben: That is really interesting. Do you have pictures of the others?

What I find interesting is the color (bronze). I have seen a few unfinished KVK 1s (I own one) and they are all silver. I doubt it's Spanish made. The KVKs in Spain (that I've seen) all had much thinner swastikas.
                        Very neat find.

                          Hello,
as I know, the spanish KVKs also have a 1939 on the backside.

                          best regards

That is correct, but only a small disc with 1939 inside a wreath, which was soldered to the reverse of the cross.

Since the center of the reverse isn't visible (the KVK on the bar) this might be the case here as well

You`re right ben, but the spanish made KVK I know, also have a little different design.

                              best regards
