EK1 Round 3 one of a kind

Hi guys, I have found and bought this EK1 Round 3 and have a look at this piece and let me know what you think.. I and the seller have been talking about that
this cross must have been a looting piece from a GI that might have beeing
around the factory by the end of the war and picked this one up and brought it
back to the states..Yes it's in a very bad condition if we are talking mint ones..
But I like this piece anyway and just wanted to share it with you guys...

Definitely a "textbook" Round-3 EK1. I agree -- probably a factory reject. I don't see any evidence that it had to be looted by someone at the end of the war though. Why not just an early reject from the Deschler factory?

Interesting piece. You could almost finish it into a nice EK, but the damage is a bit severe on the 9 oclock arm. (Obviously you wouldn't as it would spoil the interest and historical value). What I find most interesting is that it appears that this was still constructed though the frame was not even close to being properly cut. Surely it would have been thrown out before any solder ever hit it.

I wonder if this was a practice piece for someone learning the art of soldering.

Weird, but interesting EK I indeed.
Most of the backplate seems to be a miss fit. Starting at the bottom of the 6 o'clock arm and ½way up on the 9 o'clock the backplate seems to be cut in the wrong way. Also all 4 corners seems to be unfinished, with excess material from backplate visible from the front.

If not to expensive, it could be an interesting addition to an EK collection.

Tnx for looking & for the thoughts of this piece..I don't undestand or we will never do,but if this was a early rejected cross? Why did this one surviving through out the war and was not destructed? Anyway I'm not a "mint" collector. I like crosses that "have been there" and the history of the war so I am happy to found this one..

A strange - reject piece ... kept as a souvenir probably . A first cross made by the company or an employee ... who knows ??
