    A few more W&L EK I's

Here's a family portrait of my new W&L sb with some siblings.

Top one is an unmarked pin back. Non magnetic brass core.
Bottom right a screwback marked L/55 in a box on lower arm. Magnetic core.
Bottom left my new screwback, unmarked. Magnetic screwback.

    Enjoy.

                Thanks guys!

                I appreciate the kind comments.
I still can't quite believe I bought the nicest one of the bunch a few days ago at 1966 prices.
The deals are still out there and often pop up in the most unexpected places.

                All the best.

                    Thanks Nick no problem.

I know we generally do not put any credence in 'the story' associated with the crosses we collect but sometimes they are interesting to contemplate.

The two crosses, top and right, were acquired at the same time with several others from tge estate of a US paratrooper. I bought these direct from the family. There were roughly 50 EKI s in this hoard. Even though I was able to pick thru the hoard, my finances allowed 10 or so to follow me home.

Now tge story about the paras hoard. The family related that the para was wounded in action a short time post D-day. While the wound was not the million dollar wound that would have sent him back stateside it was enough to allow him to recouperate in country. He was pissed that he was missing out on the action his fellow paras were engaged in. According to a relative this para was given some duty that involved German POWs. He took the opportunity to 'get back at the enemy' by 'liberating' every EKI he could till he went back to combat.

Obviously the story adds no real monetary value to the crosses but does become part of their history even if it is just a 'family story'.

                    All the best.

                    Tony
