Tony,
the L/12 stamp togheter with the 800 stamp not in the centre of the cross can you see more often but far more you see the L/12 crosses with both stamps in the centre of the cross. It is may be possible that this is an early L/12 cross, first only stamped with the 800 silver mark and before it left the manufactory it became his L/12 stamp conform the new LDO rules from March 1941.

Comparing the background inside the stampings of the 800 and the L/12 might give a clue to whether both stampings were done relatively at the same time. If the inside of one of the stampings were lighter than the other one than it would be stamped at a later time than the one with a darker inside.
