    KIA EK 1 info requested

I acquired this obviously battle damaged EK1. The guy who was wearing it must have caught a piece of shrapnel in his back, or side, that didn't stop until it hit the EK. Notice the damage! I don't know what else could have caused this kind of damage. I was hoping somebody could tell me who made this EK, and is it common, or rare? On the top of the screw back there is a square, but I can't make out what it says. Looks like 5 or G something. On the left is an RZM. On the right it looks like it said SS. It is a double circle, with an SS inside (I think). In the middle is 215, a line then 11 (I think). did the SS ever mark their awards? There are no marks on the EK, itself. can I buy a replacement screw back? Thanks for any and all help! John

      Imho not good.
Never seen screwbacks with SS markings.
And seeing the obverse of the cross, I doesn't look genuine either.

I forgot to mention, the EK is domed.

Fake disc with fake markings, IMO, and I hold little hope for the cross itself, either.

The '1939' looks very soft and it loos like the EK is also made in 1 piece.
I'm afraid that I am quite right and that the cross and screwback are copies.

I am quite sure this is not a one piece cross. I will scan the side view, to show the layers. maybe that was faked, too, though...

Sorry, but IMO the whole thing is fake Tom

Very bad fake, any cross marked RZM or SS should ring alarm bells.
