"So Mr Hulley, where is your proof that what you describe as a 'pigeon-head' cap eagle such as the one found on the accused's Allgemeine-SS General's visor cap is a reproduction that was manufactured in the 1970's as you state ?"

    .....

"Case dismissed ... costs to the accused."

Don't waste your time wondering about the SS award...it's a fake and so is the box.

On a personal note I think this mans site has been a reminder of the level of fakes that exist in our field of Collecting. To the unwary a lot of it is convincing. A wise old Yoda type chap chap once told me many years ago " you only need one reference book as to what you can collect but ten books on the fakes around" I always remembered that sadly it didn't stop me getting burnt a few times over the years. I have looked at every item on this dubious site and its certainly added to my knowledge on the fakes resurfacing all the time. Age is on their side so to speak the older the fake the more chance it has of conning some poor collector.

I agree. I have looked at his site and most of what he sells would fool me. For the time being and until I am much more confident I am going to restrict any purchases to the classified adverts on here, war relics and German daggers forums. These boards seem to be self policing in that everything that is proffered for sale is seen and judged by a wide range of expert collectors who have a vested interest in keeping the hobby clear of fakes. Regarding the SS visor cap at £6000. That would surely fall into the level of fraud worthy of prosecution.

I can almost certainly guarantee you that the Police would not be interested, which is one of the reasons why so many UK dealers like this one blatently sell fakes. Did you not know that only "nazi's" collect this sort of thing.

If you fake a antique chair and sell that for £6000, you will probably get a call rom the old bill. Fake "Nazi crap" and max penalty would be a refund.

Yes the 1980's prices should be of concern. People think their getting a bargain so common sense goes out the window

This guy is really on a roll now the updates are just getting better and better or worse and worse depending on how you feel. Thank goodness for Forums like this at least Collectors can be made aware before getting seriously burnt especially in the case of his SS stuff. I swear there is an undiscovered SS Battalion still serving in Pakistan as they constantly need a supply of uniforms and badges. I jest but in all honesty I know its no laughing matter.

                                Theft

If you sell an item which is questionable in my mind it is as good as outright theft. There are some dealers who go to great lengths to ensure their items are clean, others who are plain thieves. If I thought I had been screwed over I would not bother with the police I would sort it out personally.
