I finally got off my butt and ordered the book. It's one of those things, that when you receive it, you think:

Why did I wait so long!!!???

Thick, sturdy, well bound. Illustrations are second to none, and it's packed with information on every facet of the award process - in addition to deep research into the actions behind the docs.

Just reading the first couple of chapters will give the reader a whole new appreciation of the EK docs in their possession, as well as the physical iron cross awarded.

As so many others have stated, a must-have for any serious (or even semi-casual) collector!!

Thanks to Brian R for the effort.

    best

      EK Book

      Hello,
I said it was a great book and I was looking at it again last night. My 12 year old son is now looking at it too.

      Great book.

Reference Book - Iron Cross Award Documents of World War II.

There are still some left, and now available at a reduced price of $85. You can email me at info@kleinekillpress.com or buy (here in the US) from B&D or Winidore Press.

These need to be cleared out for more projects to come...

        Thanks,

Fantastic book! Even if someone does not collect WW2 documents, it is one of the essential books on an Iron Cross bookshelf,

I can highly recommend this book, it is fantastic written, with a ton of nice pictures and info.
If you do not care for the documents, but only the EK, I would still recommend this book.

The info about regulations and handing out the medal itself, is really interesting.

So if you have not already ordered you book, do it now.

            Kind regards
            Flemming

I will keep this thread going. It deserves to be brought to the top.

I purchased this book a couple weeks ago and am about finished reading it cover to cover. I think it is an excellent book, deserving to be on all our shelves.

I have been a history buff for 40+ years and a collector for probably 17. This book addresses my love of history with the background of the units on the document, backgrounds of the signers and of the whole award process. There are tons of photos of the recipients and signatories. Very good.

It addresses the collector in me because of the insight into the various forms of documents and outlining the whole award process from recommendation through the award. Brian has included a ton of information. I am a paper collector. I thought one of the coolest and most helpful inclusions was his index of signatories in the back of the book. Nice.

This is a great book and includes a lot of information for the price. Put down that bent up, rusty EK2 you want to purchase and put this in your hands - it is a better value.

Knowing this thread is a few years old I still like to tell, as a starting collector, I just ordered a copy after reading all the positive comments.
For anyone who is interested in buying one, I ordered mine at https://www.vdmedien24.de/Orders-Decorations, saving about $100 compared to the amazon.com sales price....

Being new to the forum I just hope I’m allowed to post my message like this; for the record: I’m not in anyway related to the site vdmedien.

                Kind regards,

                Jeroen
