Would anyone care to offer opinions on this unmarked screw back spange?? I realize the photos aren't great, but they are the sellers.

Terrible pics, but already some bad news, Jim:

The original BH Mayer clasps with screwback I know have a plain dish disc, while the BH Mayer "Raptor" fake with screwback uses exactly that "shell" disc.

Were the clam shaped backs ever created during the war??????

Yes, but as far as I know, never on BH Mayer clasps. On those it has to be the plain dish. There are e.g. genuine EK1 s with clam shell srewbacks, but there are also more fakes with clam shell screwback, e.g. Assmann marked GABs.
Also devastating that the known fakes ( I picured one above) of the BH Mayer screwback have the clam shell.
