It has a Souval frame with a brass core? john

The cross is by Friedrich Orth, unmarked L/14. An example can be seen with the same brass F. Orth core, pin assembly, Souval frame, etc. on page 142 of 'The Iron Cross 1. Class' by Dietrich Maerz and George Stimson.

No, because Souval made a brass core as well in their EKI's, marked L58. This cross has a core made by F. Orth.

IMO Friedrich Orth core Souval fame but Orth build
