    Battle damaged Godet DKiG

    Hello guys,

this one just came in - a nice heavy '21' marked DKiG.

Unfortunately the Enamel is damaged, but IMO it has a nice character!

    Best regards,

          .......

Nice cross but on a German Cross, it's all about the enamel.

Personally, I'd take an honest worn and enamel damaged DK over a "mint" 20 that a vet picked up from a storeroom at the end of the war any day.

            Great Godet Emeredato!

            Regards

Evaluate the item, not the story and not the seller's reputation!

If you PM/contact me without the courtesy of using your first name, please don't be offended if I politely ignore you!

I´ll agree with Mike, its nicer to have a "been there" award.

I would rather have a worn, used, but not abused DK. but if I should have to choose between a mint or one with enamal damage, I would take the Mint any given day.

Who can tell, if it is atually battle damaged, or just dropped on the floor by some kids, in the last 70 odd years?

But agreed, battle damaged sounds more cool, then just damaged.

Seems like more and more #21 coming to light, am I wrong?

I believe this one looks fantastic (so a separate question), is there any greater risk of #21s being prolific reproductions?

                    thanks!

I agree....I am not going to put down your cross as you like and that is what collecting is all about.I am just saying that unless you paid no more than $500(I would have not paid that) for it or somebody gave it to you I would have passed on this piece jmo.

Who knows... The company survived the war and as far as I know in the sixties was sold to Klietmann and Orden Sammlung.

I am not putting the shown example down as it is a fine piece of history. However, when it comes time to sell one will be hard put to regain their purchase price. Even more so if has been purchased from a dealer. It's all about condition when resale time shows up.

Well to comparison against the 21 being sold on eatand, this one is a beauty.

Making the statement no more than 500$ is ########!
