    Comments on RS EKII

I have been offered an EK II, which I believe is a Rudolf Souval type. However, I am not sure if the item is post or pre-war.

I would appreciate any comments or thoughts on this item.

    first pic is obverse

    thanks, Al R

    reverse

Due to the poor lighting when I took the pics, I've had to play around with the brightness and contrast a bit - the cross actually looks better than the pics

the eyelet used to attach the ribbon-ring does not quite make a complete connection with the reverse of the cross

These crosses are from my collection. Left is a "trial pattern" cross from 1957. Right is a wartime cross. Both has the same frame. Note the dieflaw in both frames. Both crosses has the small ring soldered only to the frame at the obverse (front). I guess my respond rise more questions than it answers.

          Cheers.

That's an interesting observation, Peter. All three of my (presumably) wartime Souval EK 2s have the same characteristic.

                No date. No oakleaf. Nothing.

                Cheers.

Nice one there that trail cross. My Souval is as those you show, ring not welded on back side. And i do have the orginal blue packet for it stampt for RS , also the ribbon is orginal not used.

Thanks for the comments fellows. Peter, my cross also has the die flaw that you mention above.

Now, is it post or pre-war , that is the question
