EK_1 maker help?

Looks like a 1st frame ..... the core - is it rusty or copper ?

Interesting that the swaz is copper and the numbers show iron. The coating must have come away with the paint where as it's stayed put on the swaz.

A bit different from the one I have . The copper core on mine is plated with Nickel which has darkened . ... and lots of lacquer left on mine .
I did not know if mine had a copper core until I actually got it .
Paint does not adhere to copper or brass very well .... the reason for the core surface plating .
Lets see what William says .

It did not look like rust, but wanted to make sure . Copper and tombak both have very simular oxidation color. . I have not seen a copper core in a W&L 2nd frame yet . Is that one a first frame William - or can you some how tell what the core is made of ?
