    Ribbon, EK 2

    Greetings,
I am looking at several WW2 and WW1 EK 2s that are without their ribbon. Where is a good place to find quality reproduction ribbon (which I could live with for display) or if possible, original ribbon. How does one know original ribbon if it is offered?
    Best Regards

There is a gentlemen selling original ribbons for 8 Euros each on the e-stand at this link http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...ad.php?t=71730

Some of the dealers sell only ribbons too so it's worth to search and buy
original ( it's not expensive ), also here in the E-Stand sometimes people
      sell.

Here is a dealer who sells it :

I'm no expert but from what I understand you put the ribbon below black
light ( UV ) and see if the white color glow, if it glows then it's new ( reproduction ).

        Agreed

The best way to tell is to put the ribbon under black light, Like Ran has stated if you get an organic glow from the ribbon you know that it is not a period item, there are other ways of telling.

For example looking at how the ribbon has been stiched, you would have to be able to look at other ribbons, but if you post a close up of the ribbon on the forum, members would be able to tell the value of the ribbon.

In most country's EK ribbons can be bought.
UV testing is not always watertight. During WW2 there have been produced small quantities of artificial fabrics (that's what makes them glow under UV lighting), but theze wartime fabrics glow less bright then later fabrics.
But be aware that there are ribbons being made with the original wartime fabrics.
This means it is very difficult to obtain a 100% certainty through only UV testing.
