EK 2 mm 27 with brass core

I found this at an antique shop on the way home from Chicago. The place was loaded with fakes. This looked interesting, so I picked it up. I cannot find a reference on the forum for a brass cored EK2 with this maker mark. Weight is 20g.

Certainly looks like a Schenkl core and mark...I would say it's OK.

You should not, however, take too much comfort in that!

            cheers

Tom, interesting cross!!! Matches exactly the 2 iron core crosses I have!

                  Thanks Marshall, Thanks Dave-

I think it is okay also. I actually had my 1939 iron cross book, a loop and Detlev's catalog in my car that I could use for a reference. The people there thought me a bit crazy, but I was able to find the beading and date match well. I thought it was interesting mostly from the brass core standpoint.

This place had a boatload of ss colar tabs, daggers, and such. I do not know a damn thing about them, so I did not even examine them. Too bad I did not have my camera. I could have taken some shots for those interested in such items.

Tom, interesting in that it has the PK# but yet non iron!

I thought that was odd as well, as with the brass core, I would have thought it would have been unmarked. Any thoughts on the discrepancy?

                        Old stock?

The beading is certainly different to TerryG's (presumably non brass) 27 EK2 mm

Heck yeah!!! If the PK was willing to pay for excess stock..

I have to ask. Are you sure its not magnetic? It looks like a rusted core, or if not magnetic, bronze.

                            Cheers.
