    KVK 2nd + ribbon + packet

    Hi,

Wanted your opinion on this KVK 2nd class.

Is everything looks ok ? Is there a way that I can know if the ribbon and
packets are the original that came with the cross ?

    Dealer's description :
"War Merit Cross 2nd Class with Swords with original ribbon and packet of issue. The
medal is in very good condition with nice even aging and is marked on the ring "61" for the
firm Rudolf A. Karneth & Sohne . The packet is in excellent condition and is also marked
    Rudolf A. Karneth & Sohne"

    Thank you,

    Ran

Just looking in "WW2 German Medals" by Christopher Ailsby and in his notes
about known makers for kvk 2nd with swords he don't mention "61".

          Thanks,

          Ran

Edit : looked again and Maker "61" is not showing on any kvk type. Anybody
here have a KVK MM "61" that he knows it's 100% original ?

That cross is fine. "61" is a maker of the KVK 2 with swords. Here's another one. As to whether that particular cross has always been paired with that particular packet -- well, it's likely, but possibly not. You never know!

Thank you very much, I guess I'm going for it :o)

I was also wondering for general knowledge, I've seen that some crosses
have a bit more space between the 3 connceting "loops" but not in the
example I've showed and the example you've showed. Is that something
that is unique to this spesific maker ?

Also how can I know if the ribbon is an original ( that like you say maybe
didn't come with this spesific cross ) and not a reproduction ?
( again, for my knowledge )

                    Thanks,

                    Ran

different makers, no cross is exactly the same...

Schonbeck is right. Different makers have different characteristics.

That could just be a difference in dies. As for Chris's book, I also have it and there are no MM's mentioned for the KVM yet I own a "5" and a "60". I think when he wrote the book, I would venture a guess that they all wern't known!!! Just my opinion. Hope this helps Ran. Nice cross by the way Go for it. As for the ribbon and package, not much you can do till you have them in hand, just make sure you have a return policy

And I've noticed that both the 61 has this "thing" on the handle ( from both
sides of the right sword handle ! ! ! )
