              Hi Nick.
It is not really engraving more scratched, crude at best. As for period who knows
however it is an interesting piece

Honestly, far too frequent occurrence to be digested. I mean, where are all the Fritz so and so's from the bread delivery depo EK1s? And with field personalization’s to boot for sale… I’d be very skeptical!

I would not pay more than the regular going rate for such a piece. Everything else is simply stupid...

Takes a leap of faith to purchase something like that.

                        Zinc stinks!

I have a DKiG where I do believe that the engraving is authentic.

It is attributed to a Pilot who got it in November 1942.

You can see the Pilots FP number on the back 27754

                          /Flemming

PS I know I have been showing it before, but it is the highlight of my little Collection.

                            Kyle:

I don't want to 'rain on your parade'....but, it's a "toss of the coin" on that piece.

We had a guy here in 'Ontario' who back in the 80's would take an 'unmarked' award to the
show & if he didn't sell it there it would show-up on his tables at the next show with the recipient's name & unit on the back with a price hike of at least $150.00 on it & sometimes
he got it sold as such!

                            Ron.

There have been quite a few studies done on determining period engraving styles, but it's not a perfect science. Scratched in dedications really have no chance unless you can test the age of the patina.

Maybe that's why we're seeing more of this type showing up.
The thread starter could be authentic or not, but we just can't tell for sure.

                              Still, a nice EK
