The "straight-arm" has straighter arms on the sides than usual. Sort of a pedestrian name, it's true. But these unknown makers need some name

About the cross that began the thread: it's either a Floch or a 23 frame with an unusual core. Flochs and 23s had the same exact frame shape (also the same shape as Deumers and Mayers). An L/53 EK1 was posted recently that really demonstrated how important good photos are to ID a cross. The core looked totally wrong in the first batch of photos, and then suddenly looked right in the second under better light.

I would love to see closer shots of this cross: well-lit shots of the dates and good enough to see the beading. I might even take a chance on this one if the price was right, just to see what the heck it is, knowing it might be a Floch variant.
            Best regards,
            Streptile

I'm with you on this, Trevor. Better photos are a must, yes.

I can not ask for a better first cross image
                I downloaded one side
Also I am curious is good or not
The seller did not send a better picture

I think despite the poor quality of the images
this is a type Otto Schickle
What do you think of this?

Wide flange all around and very interesting ( ) beading where the arms meet around the swaz. The light makes the swaz look almost domed.

A strange cross ... the quality is poor .
It is not a straight arm .... the bead count is way out . Lets take the bottom beading : Sanya's example about 30 full beads ... and Robert's has 34 full beads . Core does not match either ... too iffy for me .
There are a lot of better ones around !

Based on the new pics, I'd pass on it too. Not sure what it is but it's not one any of us recognize.

Doesn't look even a little bit like a Schickle, even from the first photos.
