        Congrats

I love the distinctive characteristics on these crosses!

Here is my example, you have a much more defined maker mark than on mine

Are there any signs that it has been re-soldered?
I'm not to keen on the core, it's not what I would expect in an L/53...

Looks like an original frame with a replaced (possibly fake) core....

Can you make a good close-up of the date?
It is very hard to see in the pics so far, but I still don't like it.

It is possible they used a 2nd core, but so far I have only seen L/53 ek's like the one Nick is showing...

On the re-soldering: I have a very nice ek1 SB, marked 800 with a Deumer core.
It came with an L/58 marked disc.

The ek turned out to be a Frankenstein, but the soldering is perfect..
And we see more crosses made from authentic parts surfacing over the past weeks.

I can see better on the first photo and the core matches mine, although I'm away and using an ifukpad so I can't post photos or do a side by side comparison.
i see what you mean on the swaz Ben, and possibly the 3, but the differences are tiny so maybe two different cores? Die wear?

The swaz on mine resembles the center part of the posted example as does the orientation of the outer corners to the beading slash marks, almost perfectly.

Frame splitting is not unheard of in good pieces but as stated, it's best safe than sorry.

Definitely a clearly lit, more in focus pic might reveal something different.

I agree. Fakers have mastered soldering techniques, and artificial patina.

Poor seam soldering can be a sign of a fake, but perfect soldering is not proof of originality.

I'm not sure what to make of this L/53 (like Ben) but I agree that good photos of the obverse are needed. The core is not like anything I've seen in any L/53 before, although the rest of the cross looks textbook.
                        Best regards,
                        Streptile

                          Ben/Trev,

Maybe you guys could make a side by each comparison photo when we have better shots, I would love to but can't right now

Collector: can you provide a well lit, outdoor, shot of where the core meets the beading also?

                          Chris
