2 L/54 EK1s both flawed

Hello Gents,
I have posted here some pics of 2 EK1s, both mm L/54. One is a screw-back the other a pin-back. The frames have different characteristics on magnification. BUT, both are flawed on the 3 and 6 O'clock arm beading. There are differences in the flaw pattern between the 2 crosses. I was wondering if anyone out there could post some pics of L/54 marked crosses for comparison, and whether flaws on EK1s are common! Sorry about the lack of quality on the pics but I am improvising at the moment.

Hi,

Harry, I'm sorry but I have some concerns over your pinback example. If the pin has not been replaced, I'd suggest it is a recent reproduction which came marked for various makers. These repros used the same distinctive very long pin which tapers to both ends. The L/54 marking on these was located in an atypical position (above the catch), although the form was realistic. The screwback looks authentic. Are both crosses the same size and do both have iron/steel cores?

Hi Mike,
Yes both are iron cores. The screw-back I am 100% happy with as it came from a very reliable source. I do not know the origin of the pin-back though. The pin-back is 0.9mm wider than the screw-back type. Thanks for your input.

Here you go Harry,this is an L/54 screwback I once had...unfortunately this is the only photo I have of it.Hope it helps??.....its a bit salty I know!!
