    Juncker L/12 SB for opinions...

    Hi fellas,

I just received this cross from FEDEX late this evening, shot a few photos in a hurry, and wanted to ask you for your opinions, please...

The last photo is taken with a ring light to really bring out the details of the date, which I believe is Juncker's first '39 core. Still, open for opinions...

A beauty Robert, congratulation, I really like it & I definitely wouldn't kick her out of bed ;-)
Your hurried pix are better than most people's non hurried lol

I wouldn't say the cutting out of the interior of the frame is the best I've seen, but these Junkers just look the part anyway. On about the patina again, but just look at the way it's forming on the reverse of the cross and around the plate.

            Thanks a lot everyone,

I couldn't pass this one up, had to add it to the Juncker display case.

Yes, as Trevor says, Juncker's aren't about craftsmanship, they all about style.

              Here's my Juncker EKI family...

Top row: brass-cored Juncker Schinkel, L/12 pinback,

Bottom row: L/12 SB with W&L core, L/12 SB (cross in this thread).

                    Lovely crosses Robert

                    I have a few Juncker crosses but these two are my favourite;

A full Juncker EK2 and an Early EK1

Great crosses! Always like to see more of Juncker's creations. Thank you for sharing these.

Here is my cased Juncker L/12 SB, W&L core. Love this case...

They look nice in their case but even better in wear...

In post #7 it's only evident that Juncker changed from a semi-gloss paint to a glossy coating of paint at some point in time. Even the W&L-cored SB has a glossy finish, making me wonder if it too was painted at the Juncker plant during this period, and not sent to Juncker pre-painted.

                              Very nice one

This was most definitely Juncker's first 1939 core design, and it seems they resurrected it for use later in the war -- almost towards the end. Their progression of cores is confusing to me because it seems almost haphazard at times. I feel quite comfortable with the chronological progression of EK1 frames:
                              1. AWS (Schinkel frame)
                              2. Crunch-Bead
                              3. Common L/12

If we extrapolate an order of cores from this list of frames, they would go something like this:
                              1. Schinkel core
                              2. Teardrop core
                              3. W&L core
                              4. Schinkel redux core

This list isn't complete, obviously, because there are some oddities I've seen that are obviously authentic but use different frames and cores.

The combination on your cross (Common L/12 frame and Schinkel redux core) is one of the final configurations Juncker used. I'd hate to put a date on it but I would suspect between 1943-1945.

The paint is another question; it would be nice to compare some of these paintjobs to those on the Juncker RKs, which (as far as I know) have been mapped with some precision by RK wonks like Dietrich and Leroy.
                              Best regards,
                              Streptile

Looking for ROUND BUTTON 1939 EK1 Spange cases (LDO or PKZ)
