    EK1 for opinion

    Hello

First of all, sorry for my bad english becasue it isn't my language.

I'm new in this forum becaseu I look that here I can learn a lot of german condecorations.

Las week I could see that my GAB is a fake, and now I suspect of some medals that I have.

I study a lot my EK1 and I need the help of experts to know if it's real or fake.
Some photos, here we can see the green oxide of bad german plate and the oxide of iron.

the pin, I can't identificate this type.

back and the strange mark on the pin that I don't knwo what is means. back is a litlle green too.

    thanks for your help.

I have a nice hammer if it's necessary.

The core is Deumer, but the cross seems to be a Frankenstein..

I believe it's an original Deumer with replaced (postwar) pin

That would be my guess also.

I agree. Was Deumer's early pin, with standing hinge.

The side pictures looks like that the frame was opened!
IMO this combination (pinsetup) is not created by Deumer.

                      Sorry Trevor,

You were making a statement that it originally had an early pin, and that the early hinge was a standing hinge. There was no '?' at the end of your statement. My misunderstanding, as I thought you were asking if Deumer had a standing hinge on their early EKI's.

I'm looking what you say, and I don't think so that happened. it seems more the deterioration of iron and medal which could do it.

                        other side.

the mistery of strange EK! continues.

I have a Deumer EKI with the same splitting of the frame halves up on the top of the cross. I assume this split is from the pressure applied to the pin to open it.

Is it a Deumer EK 1? or a frankestein EK1, would like to know because I have a nice hammer for it.

IMO the only part of this cross that was messed with/replaced was the pin. All else is purely Deumer. It's still a good display piece.
