EK1 Schinkel; screwback plate puzzles me...

    Hi,

I just got a new load of EK's in from a runner and this Schinkel type piece was included; but I do not know what to think of it....

The edges are all slightly vaulted.

I do not recognize this type of back plate, looking at the bolt it seems to be home made....or not?

Beat-up Latvian fake with an odd disc.

The core is pretty convincing with the Deumer-style numbers, but the date sits to low.

The uneven width of the flange is another give-away

          Fake.

Hi Mel. Interesting. I had the "it" in the hands of the Waffen Borse in Kassel last year.
                  Circulates around the world!

                  Best regards.

Indeed a small world....great that you had by chance taken this picture Maciej. Just one out of 1.000's of crosses and you had it photographed!

I already had a very bad feeling and am then always peculiar about the source of such items....... thanks guys!

I agree. It's a very good fake, but close study can uncover the problems.
                        Best regards,
