This EKII Looks A Bit 'Dodgy' To Me Guv'

    Fellow members,

Looking through a well know on-line auction house the other day I saw this item up for grabs.

It's a mm '333' EKII with a 'kraft' paper presentation packet.

Opening bid was $US60 so, OK, lets keep an eye on it so as to purchase (IMO) a nice fake EKII group as a reference.

Well, it's upto $US99 now plus 15% commission plus $US4 handling plus $US postage. so I'm out of the game.

Wonder what it will go for?

Auction closes on the 25th October 2004.

    Watch this space.

    Regards ...

A few weeks ago I finally got to hold one of these in hand. Very well made. The owner of the shop was selling it for someone else and couldn't believe it was a fake. I assured him it was, then he told me he would tell the owner later because he was in the hospital. I know that's not funny, but I hardly think the guy would fall out over it.

If he hadn't been asking nearly 200 for it, I might have picked it up just to have one.

I know the name of the auction was not mentioned but let me see........... could this have been a Manions offering? I would be curious to know if I was correct on this or not.

Yes these pieces are very well made and produced in the correct 3 piece manner. First thing you notice when holding these pieces is the corners are quite sharp, could almost cut your fingers on them. I have seen these unmarked as well.

          Hi,

I've held one of these in the past and the quality was very good. One thing I notice on these images, which I don't recall when I held one, is that the flanges appear very wide in places and the beading/frames are not centered (ie slightly skewed). Maybe this is an earlier attempt - or a repro of a repro, or a fake of a repro ??

Evaluate the item, not the story and not the seller's reputation!

If you PM/contact me without the courtesy of using your first name, please don't be offended if I politely ignore you!
